Group Classes

Group classes resume January 9, and there are only 6 classes before the All School Concert March 7. We will be rehearsing and preparing for the concert at each group class, so please prioritize them in your schedule.

All School Concert (March 7)

All JMS students will participate in our all school concert, back for the first time since 2020! Dress rehearsals: 4-6pm

Concert: 6:30-7:30pm

Location: Calvary Baptist Church 1825 State St. Quincy

Congratulations to Preston Trinh!

We are so proud of Preston Trinh for competing in and winning the 2021 Young Artist Competition. Preston competed on the first movement of Edouard Lalo’s “Symphonie Espagnole,” and will perform this concerto with the Quincy Symphony Orchestra on their “Courage & Spirit” Concert at 3pm Sunday, February 13 2022.

100 Day Club

January is a great time of year to start the 100 Day Club! Practicing 100 days in a row develops a great practice habit, and helps you make much quicker progress on your instrument. If you start now you will be able to finish before the 100 Day Club Party on May 16. The party will be for all students who complete 100 days of practice in a row by May 16. We will celebrate with pizza, games, and crafts at 2009 Hampshire St. Quincy (piano/harp studio).

Piano/Harp Recital

All JMS students are invited to the piano and harp studio recital 3pm Sunday January 9, at Vermont St. United Methodist Church (8th & Vermont st. Quincy).

Summer Institutes & JMS Scholarship Applications

If you enjoyed the JMS summer camp last year, check out the Suzuki Association of the Americas website (summer institutes tab) to plan which summer institute to attend this year! More info about institutes will be added throughout the month. Once you have selected the institute you wish to attend, submit your application for the JMS Summer Scholarship (application available for download in the “current student” tab of our website). Each year, 1-2 students are awarded up to $500 to help defray the cost of attending a summer institute.
