Congratulations all students on a great All-School Concert, March 11. It was a great celebration of a lot of hard work and many hours of practicing!

Spring Solo Recitals

Students are selecting recital pieces next week and rehearsal schedules are being set in place. All recital rehearsals will take place at Sarah Boren’s studio, 2009 Hampshire st. in Quincy. This year there will be four recitals; one on Friday, May 17 and three on Saturday, May 18. We are working to keep a good balance of instruments and skill level as well as keeping families together, and we are planning for each recital to be around 30-40 minutes.

Group Classes

The last group classes for the year will be held Monday, April 29. There is no group class Monday April 22 because schools are on Easter break.

Summer Institutes/Scholarships

Now is the time to check out and register for Summer Institutes, happening all across the country! There are so many reasons to go to a Summer Institute. Ask your teacher about where they have been and more details about how they work. If you are interested in applying for a JMS Scholarship please do so by May. We currently have just under $400. In the scholarship fund. If you are interested in donating to this fund please do so!

100 Day Club Party

If you will be completing 100 Days in a row of practice this year, you are invited to the party! Please sign up with your teacher so that you get the official invitation. Save the date, Monday, May 20 4-5pm.

Summer Lessons

Summer lessons are critical for continued growth and progress. Goals can be set and reached, progress in reading ability, coaching, opportunity for more practice, ensemble playing with friends or siblings, and more. Each teacher will have their schedule and sign-ups after the spring recitals so please see them for details. Depending on the number of weeks a teacher is teaching, a certain number of lessons is required by the student. This ensures a spot on the fall teaching schedule.

River Strings

Don’t forget the end of the year party April 8, 6:00 p.m. at Mrs. Javaux’s home. Please sign up to bring food to share. No rehearsals the rest of the school year.
