Registration Day, Monday, August 20
Plan to stop by our new location, 2009 Hampshire, and register for fall at JMS. We will
be open 2:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. so you can stop by when convenient and plan to spend about 15 minutes. Here is a list of details you will need to take care of:
Pay fall registration fee, check made out to JMS ($70. First child, others $15. each)
Pay for September lessons, check made out to your teacher
Order school t-shirt if you do not have one and would like one this year (these are great for casual school performances)
See our new scholarship fund product, available for purchase starting Aug 20
Make sure you know when your student will be having group classes this year• Get the JMS school year calendar
River Strings will get measured for uniforms, check availability for events
Pick up individual teacher information and confirm fall lesson time• Sign up for volunteer needs for JMS
Reck Violin Day Monday, August 27
Jim Reck, violin maker and seller of fine string instruments, will be at our 414 S 14th Street location for the entire day! If you need work done on your string instrument, need to purchase an instrument or bow, or need to exchange one for a bigger size, plan to take care of your needs that day. Call Jim (319.351.8374) ahead of time and tell him what you need so he comes to town prepared for you.
Parent Meeting Monday, August 27
All parents of JMS please plan to attend the annual parent meeting at 5:30p.m., Calvary Baptist Church. Come for the information about the new school year, meet other parents, learn about new things happening, and learn from other parents. Oh yes, and there will be chocolate!
Violins Play at Artfest Saturday, September 15
Violin students will perform at Artfest on Saturday, September 15. Meet at the art barn in front of the art center (time to be announced, between 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.) Wear JMS t-shirts and jeans.
Cello Students
Be aware that Stephen’s work schedule has now changed from set days to a rotating schedule. He is doing everything he can to arrange that all lessons stay on Thursdays. Group classes, however, will be slightly irregular since he will have some Monday shifts. Best way to stay current on group class schedule is to check the JMS website calendar.
River Strings Families
Tonya Sparrow will be measuring for uniforms on August 20 at registration day, ( 3:00-4:00) It is very important that if you are ordering new uniforms, you bring your student to registration so that the uniforms can be ordered the next day. We need them by October 8 and the order takes time to process. Jenny Brown will be available for alterations.
